Cold Coco Recipe – Surti Chocolate / Cocoa Milk Shake

Cold Coco Recipe – Surti Chocolate / Cocoa Milk Shake
Hey Foodies, Summer Season is on its way and what better way to beat the heat by making this creamy, smooth and chilled Cold Coco. It’s widely famous in Surat and Gujrat and it’s a delight especially for young ones. A cool Chocolate drink would create wonders for a child and grown-ups as well.
INGREDIENTS:
For the milk
- Toned Milk - 500 ml or full cream or whole milk
- Sugar - 4 tbsp
- Dark Chocolate - 75 gms chopped, optional
- Crushed Ice - as required
For the slurry
- Corn flour - 2 tbsp
- Cocoa Powder - 2 tbsp
- Milk - 6-7 tbsp
RECIPE STEPS:
- Pour the milk in a deep pan and place it over medium heat. Allow the milk to come to a simmering stage.
- In the meantime make slurry. In a small bowl combine corn flour, cocoa powder and milk. Stir well until there are no lumps and set aside.
- Once the milk is at a simmering stage, gently start pouring the slurry into the milk, whisking continuously using a whisk.
- Add the sugar and keep stirring for a good 3-4 minutes over low flame.
- Add the chopped dark chocolate and keep stirring further for 2-3 minutes or until all the chocolate has melted.
- Bring the milk to a boil, the color should be intense and the consistency should be thick and creamy. Remove from flame.
For serving
- Add some crushed ice upto ¾ level of the serving glass.
- Top it up with the hot coco mixture.
- Pour the entire mixture into the stainless steel glass and then transfer it back to the serving glass. Do this step couple of times.
- Our cold Coco is ready .Serve the chilled coco drink as is or add a scoop of vanilla or chocolate ice cream.
RECIPE NOTES :
Notes: Do not add the slurry to very hot milk or else lumps will form. Use lots of ice for a cold coco drink. Tips: It is advisable to use whole milk or full cream milk, for a richer and creamier coco drink. Adjust sugar and dark chocolate as per your taste.
