Litti chokha is a traditional delicacy mainly eaten in Bihar. It is a dough ball made up of whole wheat flour and stuffed with roasted sattu or commonly known as chickpea flour, mixed with herbs and spices and then roasted over coal. Served with garlic chutney and chokha which is a potato filling, made with fresh herbs and spices. This dish is often confused with a commonly know dish called Baati, but it is a completely different dish in terms of taste, texture and preparation. Litti chokha is a complete meal as you can serve this at lunch and dinner. Very easy to make and mouthwatering to eat. Do try making it.
If you have heard the word Bruschetta then the immediate thought comes to your mind is Italian food. What if we tell you that we can make the traditional and classic dish with a little bit of our own Indian twist then would you belief…Well then watch and learn. The Italian style is very summery and fresh and the Indian style is more bread pizza inspired. Nevertheless both styles will tempt you to make them at every party and get together. Prepare a fresh topping with tomatoes, onions and fresh basil, char one tomato for the smoky flavor and then toss everything with a slight drizzle of extra virgin olive oil. Prepare the Baguette slices by brushing olive oil; grilling it and then rubbing the slices with garlic…a very important step do not skip it. This recipe was inspired by my relative Manisha Bhabhi, her mom makes a slight different version of this. She calls it Bhar ke Puri and she recently started blogging at www.foodnspoons.com. Navratri, a festival filled with joy, happiness, positivity is all here! It’s the time when we fast for 9 days, pray to god, play garba-dandia.. Talking about the fast, people follow different rituals for it, Some eat food once a day, some eat only falhari food once a day, some eat food with no salt, some with only sendha/rock salt, some eat only fruits, some only drink water or milk, some eat only satvik food.. Many other rituals are there, all families follow different things but what brings them together is the God & the energy & positivity God gives us while fasting!
My family follows to eat Satvik Food Once a day in the festival. So, today is the Day 1 of the Nine Day Festival, and here’s the Satvik thali I made for today 🙂
