Ingredients
Servings: cookies
Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl combine maida, powdered sugar, oats flour, salt and baking soda.
  2. Finally add the butter and using you hand mix all the ingredients together to form soft dough. If you are having difficulty kneading the dough then add few drops of milk, please do not add more than two tbsp, try to use as much as heat possible from your fingers to knead the dough.
  3. Once the dough is ready add the choco chips, and give it a good knead.
  4. Allow the dough to rest for 20 minutes. During summertime keep the dough in the refrigerator and during winter leave it at room temperature.
  5. Preheat a cooker over medium high heat, spread the salt evenly and place a round ring in the center. This will elevate the height and avoid the cookies from burning.
  6. Place the lid without the gasket or whistle, preheat the cooker for 15 minutes over high flame. If using an oven then preheat the oven at 160°C for 15 minutes
  7. After 20 minutes, the dough should be firm but yet soft, make small portions; you’ll be able to get 7-9 cookies with this portion.
  8. Line a round cake tin base with parchment paper and if baking in the oven then line a baking tray with parchment paper. Set aside.
For making the cookies in cooker
  1. Shape the dough into 3 round shape cookies; place it on the lined round baking trays. And place some choco chips on top of each cookie dough. To make it more chocolaty.
  2. Once done place the round tray inside the preheated cooker, place the lid and bake the cookies on low heat for 5 minutes.
  3. After 5 minutes quickly open the lid and using a fork break the cookies, or make crack in the cookies. This will make the cookies extra crunchy.
  4. Continue to bake for 5-7 minutes over low flame. Depending on your flame.
  5. Cookies are ready; allow the cookies to cool on a cooling rack.
For making the cookies in oven
  1. Place the remaining 6 cookies on the lined rectangular baking trays. And place some choco chips on top of each cookie dough.
  2. Once done place the tray inside the preheated oven, lower the temperature to 150°C and bake the cookies for 10 minutes.
  3. After 10 minutes, remove the cookies, they will have a dome shape on top, using a fork break the cookie dome, or make crack in the cookie dome. This will make the cookies extra crunchy.
  4. Place the tray back in the oven and continue to bake for further 10 minutes at 150°C.
  5. After the second 10 minutes of baking, increase the temperature to 180°C and bake the cookies for further 10 minutes. In total you should be baking the cookies in the oven for 30 minutes.
  6. Finally our cookies are ready, remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool on a cooling rack.
  7. The texture of the cookies should be buttery and crunchy.
serve
  1. Serve the sinfully delicious Choco Chip cookies at tea time with hot chocolate or tea.
Recipe Notes

Notes:

  • Oats gives a nutty flavour to the cookie and salt increases the sweetness in the cookies.
  • Using butter makes the cookies very buttery and crunchy.
  • The packaged choco chips have a stabilizer which stops them from melting. So you can make homemade choco chips by using compound chocolate.
  • Both ways of baking are the same, just the baking time, temperature and the shape is a little different.

Tips:

  • Use a big cooker which has height and which can accommodate the size of your baking tray this will ensure even cooking and the cookies get the brown colour on top.
  • You can use butter paper, foil or parchment paper to line the baking trays.
  • If we do not break the round dome shape on top of the cookie, then the cookie will be baked in round shape and the cookies won’t be crunchy. Hence breaking the cookie is necessary.
